THE NFA PROCESS

Go to ATF.Gov & create an E-Forms Account.
Step #2
Complete a Form 1 if building, or modifying a non- NFA item into an NFA item.
Step #3
Complete a Form 4 if purchasing a pre-built NFA item.
Step #4
Get a digital copy of your fingerprints.
Step #5
Get a passport photo of yourself.
Step #6
Upload finger prints & passport photo files to your E-Forms Account.
Step #7
Obtain your control number & cover letter to save.
Step #8
Wait for approval typically between 2-30 days.
Step #9
Once approved, visit your FFL with your approved Form and complete a 4473.
Step #10
*If you are denied, you will need to submit an appeal.
